Adaptive Positioning

ENTRE-DEUX is a two-card casino game built around position selection, a changing field and variable odds. One card defines the field. Available positions are established at odds of 5:1 or 11:1. The player may bet on one or several positions. One further card determines the winning position and resolves the outcome.
Every opening card creates a different betting field.
Some positions can be reached by two ranks and pay 5:1. Others can be reached by one rank and pay 11:1. Positions that cannot be reached are closed.
The player sees the field before betting and decides how much of it to cover.
The second card determines the winning position.
A pair is a house win.
The Game
ENTRE-DEUX uses a standard 52-card deck. Suits have no value. Cards are ranked Ace through King.
The first card is dealt before wagers are placed. It defines the available positions and the odds applying to each: 5:1 or 11:1.
The player may wager on one or more available positions.
A second card is dealt. The number of ranks between the two cards determines the winning position.
Adjacent ranks create position 0.
A pair is a house win.
Variable Odds
A position that can be reached by two possible ranks pays 5:1.
A position that can be reached by one possible rank pays 11:1.
All active position wagers carry the same house edge.
